Tools

Welcome to the Tools page. This is a brief description of the equipment and software that I use while creating graphics and websites.

Software:

Adobe Photoshop CS2*

Photoshop CS2

For the graphics side of things I use Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have been using various versions of the Photoshop range for nearly 3 years now, and have found it to be perfect for my style of working and designing. It is easy to get the hang of, and there are thousands of tutorials that can be found online. The Adobe site itself also has tutorials and tips to allow new users to get a head start when using the program for the first time.

Macromedia Dreamweaver*

Dreamweaver

This excellent program is what I use for all my coding and layouts. The view above is the Visual Design view, this was perfect when I started out. It allows the user to see all aspects of the design, giving them more direction as to where to place new layers and pictures. For detailed work on the code, there is the Coders view:

Dreamweaver

This allows the user to type in and edit the source code for the page. This can give a lot more freedom in what can be done on the page, and also allows the user to add in various formatting options of their own. This view is also used when constructing a CSS.

Hardware:

At the time of writing, I'm still at the stage of using a simple mouse and keyboard, however I am investigating graphic tablets, so you should check the Digital Art page in the near future to see work with the new equipment when it arrives. The mouse I use has a refresh of 1600 dpi, which is sensitive enough that small changes in movement are detected easily. This also allows me greater dexterity when doing work whilst zoomed in on graphics.
